School Food Trust Continues as a Charity

14 February, 2011

School Food TrustThe Government has revealed that as of April 2011, the School Food Trust will continue to be a charity and will establish a separate Community Interest Company. However, it will lose its non-departmental public body (NDPB) status.

The Community Interest Company will work alongside the charity. This will enable the Trust to work with young people, pupils, schools, parents, councils, health organisations and government departments to increase the number of children eating healthy school meals.

The Government’s announcement also confirms its expectation that the Trust will continue to take forward a number of activities for the Department for Education (DfE). The level of future DfE support for the Trust is yet to be confirmed.
